Fallen Leaves, 2014, West End Community Centre
Acrylic on canvas
This series of paintings are based on photographs taken of fallen leaves on the roads, sidewalks and grass in the West End of Vancouver. I am interested in patterns that emerge in everyday life and in exploring different ways of understanding and marking the passing of time.
Cover, 2010, Bowman Arts Centre
Mixed media on canvas
The series of process-paintings I created for the exhibit, Cover, are constructed using fabric, paint, and other collected bits of debris. These abstract works explore visceral responses to architectural environments, focusing on the home. They are inspired by the physical materials and the patterns that exist within the structures that surround our bodies. I am interested in eliciting a non-verbal response from the viewer based on experience and memory.
Mixed media on Canvas
These abstract paintings were created by combining mainly fabric and acrylic paint. However, I also used bits of paper, ribbon, tissue, and drawer liner paper.
